Southwater is my home and I love it
Reviewed onMy husband and I have lived in Southwater for 4 years we are very happy here and we plan to remain here for many years to come We both work part time so have plenty of time to enjoy the building our neighbours and the wonderful Steveston Community The purpose of this review is also to encourage those who are thinking of moving to Southwater to go ahead and just do it The setting of the building and the scenery is just breathtaking We can see the river enjoy the quietness marvel at the birdlife and feel that we live in a very peaceful part of the world The caretaker does a wonderful job looking after the day to day maintenance Our council is made up of some very experienced residents who are making good decisions that we agree upon The Social Group has talks movie nights and bocce in the summer We have gotten to know neighbours who could help us out when we are in need and likewise we can help them Steveston is a lovely village and it's hard sharing it with tourists but it is popular and rightly so Such a beautiful setting on the Fraser River with so much history and preservation of buildings There's so much to love about Southwater and Steveston

Southwater Steveston a fine place to live
Reviewed onHi I currently reside in this building and although when I first moved in there did appear to be some issues between owners and council members council has of course changed some members annually and for the last two years considerable efforts have been made to ensure this is a friendly and supportive community There is a roster of social activities and a social bulletin board so all owners residents may easily be aware of activities such as regular coffee drop in movie nights bocce in the summer Council members are very proactive about strengthening the community aspect of this complex The building is aging and this year the first of staged projects was agreed to and commenced

A Little Piece of Heaven on Earth
Reviewed onI lived for three months in a downtown condo and thought I would never survive Between the nightlife noises that went on until 1 00 a m then the street people continuing the party and the 6 00 a m sound of rattling dumpsters I truly did not sleep Then I found Southwater A cacophony of frogs serenaded me all through the summer evenings and seagulls greeted me each morning With views of beautifully maintained gardens and waterways my deck time was nothing short of a vacation which visiting friends and family always commented on The dyke along the waterfront provided great walking meditations and the boardwalk to Steveston Village provided great tourist ventures from fishing on the pier visting the Cannery or the Maritime Museum to wining and dining in the village Southwater itself the building and grounds were well maintained with the usual aches and pains of most condos Council members of the day put in long hours taking care of strata business dealing with some very difficult situations I am sure The building has a very diverse mix of people as I am sure most condos do The people are great very friendly helpful and respectful There were bacci ball nights pool nights watch out for the little lady with hew own pool cue and more recently I understand there are organized movie nights and coffee get togethers All in all it was an amazing place to call home

Avoid this building
Reviewed onWe would not recommend this building It has a history of too many factions fighting for control such that there is a poisoned atmosphere of divisiveness that permeates the building The history reveals instability in strata councils caretakers and management companies We think it a place best avoided until ithe disharmony displayed amongst its owners and the disfuction of its councils and numerous manangement companies can be demonstrated to have been corrected
