Where to start The units are across the street from the train and wow did this place shake and rumble when the train went by The bed practically lifted off the floor It was so loud my guests thought the train had derailed and was heading towards the unit We actually had to pause the TV when a train passed which was fairly often And forget opening the windows or sitting outside might as well have a patio table right in the train station So there is no fresh air And since the units are right on Waukegan road even the traffic is noisy The snow plows are the worst scraping by at 4 or 5 am Miserable And the old leaky windows don't help It was so bad that the winter gusts blew my tissues right off my nightstand We tried caulking we used the draft blockers and still the wind whipped through the windows And since the units are 3 levels the heating AC doesn't function properly The 3rd level bedrooms was horribly hot in the summer and the lower level family room is freezing in the winter We tried a space heater but it was still too cold so we didn't even use the family room in the winter Have kids Don't live there Obviously there is no outside space no greenery whatsoever But children are not even allowed to bounce balls in the driveway A divorced neighbor had his kids for a day and they were quietly bouncing a ball and sure enough the hag in 13 came running out to tell them they weren't allowed out there And then there is the condo board Made up of nasty old busy bodies who enforce the condo rules depending upon who they like and don't like From the day we moved in they made our lives miserable We tried to get a DSL line installed but the old fart in 5 said we didnt need it If dial up was good enough for him it should be good enough for us And forget extra parking The units have generous 2 car garages but if you have a guest or heaven forbid a college student come home for summer with a 3rd car you cannot park it outside There is plenty of guest parking but the board limits the number of days you can park Although since the old man in 5 goes out and checks the parking passes you could get your car towed after a random period of time just b c the old man and his board cronies namely the old hag in 13 decide they don't like you Mind you NO ONE parks overnight the lot is completely empty most evenings So 1 or 2 cars shouldn't bother anyone except constipated hags with nothing better to do than patrol the lot and randomly decide who should be towed A neighbor was test driving a friends Mercedes to see if he wanted to buy it So he parked it outside for a few days and one morning it was gone One of the fine people on the condo board had it towed since condo owners are not allowed to park outside only guests And since they saw him getting in and out of the car they assumed he owned it and had it towed Can you imagine your own neighbor calling to have your car towed When the car is in a parking area with NO other cars and not blocking or otherwise bothering anybody And of course guests can only park outside for a random limited amount of time It's not spelled out in the condo rules but that doesn't stop the fine senior citizens on the board from calling the tow truck when they like But they ignore other rule breakers like people who gasp leave flower pots on the front balcony absolutely forbidden in the condo rule book So if you want to live in a noisy older slightly run down townhouse where neighbors spy on neighbors buy a unit at 1111 S Waukegan Rd Lake Forest IL 60045 you'll just love it So glad we got out when we did I wanted to post this review when we left a few years ago but there were still some nice neighbors also trying to sell their units and i didn't want to ruin that but most of the nice people i knew have also left and just the old board hags are left so it seems time to finally write about this And I m not the only one at least 4 of the other units were also trying to sell when we sold mostly due to lack of outdoor space noise from the trains and street and the constipated condo board
